Switching from puppy to dog food?

When did you switch your dogs from puppy food to dog food? I have been wondering this for a few months as to when I should switch gunner and Dixie. I have read 8 months, a year, 18 months. I have also read that it depends on the breed well they are pomeranians..I know that with giant breeds as well as some large breeds shouldn't even be given puppy food. I guess I could call my vet but I know that they are so busy and I feel bad when I take them away from other animals for stuff like that since they don't have a receptionist..Maybe I should Apply =D. Anyway when ddid you switch from puppy to dog food?
