How does Buffy the vampire slayer differ from an Anglo-Saxon hero like Beowulf?

good question actually, i am a fan of the show and have been for years, and in my personal opinion the only difference could be motive to kill the demons/monsters/ and vampires, the time period (obviously), and the point that Buffy does not die at the end of the story
