Astrophysicist vs Surgeon!?

My mom and dad want me to do something extraordinary and become a neurosurgeon... My mom won't stop bitching me to go to medical school and blah blah.., but other than the money I hear the job itself is rough requiring long hours intense surgeries and a lot of time in college / medschool... Other than that it seems boring to me..I've always wanted to help answer the question of why we are and what lies In The great barren nothingness that is space... So I like astrophysics but I'm wondering if I can feed a family, and get a good house with the money it offers... I don't want to come out of college without a job or anything you know what I mean! I'm just curious what do you guys think. Btw I love math and physics and absolutely despise chemistry if that helps In anyway
