How do you define plantation mentality?

My plantation mentality is the boss/overlord/owner, has absolute power over the worker.The worker's input isn't welcome. Workers are expendable and easily replaceable. If you are in debt, you are not free to leave until the debt is paid. Often you are required to buy stock in the company to get the job. That stock that's supposed to be a pension plan, christmas bonus etc., it ain't ever going to go up, because it's value is being diluted by each new employee. You are a slave. Just look at your contract. Welcome to the 21st century plantation.

If you drink seawater, will you pee more or less?

a sailor stranded on an island drinks seawater to quench his thirst. what will happen? some say he will urine more to get rid of excess salt and dehydrate to death, others say he will not urine as he is already dehydrated, and he will die because blood cells shrink because they are dehydrated and cannot carry out metabolic functions. so how will he urine and die?

How do you deal with these sort of people ?

We are going to my wife’s sons wedding in a couple of months to New York. OK, nothing too grand there, But, she seems to not want to speak to us, as we live so far from them, when we do speak to them it’s on Skype, but she always makes sure she is out of camera shot, and does not say hardly a word even in the back ground. I find this very rude and disrespectful to both my wife and me. I am Also finding her son extremely patronizing toward us. Saying stupid things like when you get to New York, you be amazed how many places you will se that have been in films. HAHA, Well I am overwhelmed and shocked, come on how stupid and shallow does he think we are. Even citing the film Borat, where he was washing his pants on a rock in central park. And the idiot took a picture of it! God help them!!! I am not looking forward to this wedding at all, Did I know Kevin Costner lives in New York, WOW! And!!! My wife says shut up, to me, don’t cause trouble, but I do find it very difficult, as their behaviour and treatment of us can generally be summed up as insulting and patronizing which I absolutely hate! He just sounds like an angry young man who doesn't really know why he's angry. My guess is that he's lazy and doesn't work very hard and consequently he probably doesn't have any money so he's upset that other people have stuff and he doesn't. So he blames society and the system for his own failings because he doesn't have the courage or the character to look inward and face his real problems. Just a guess.
